I started training after the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, so I had about 6 months to train. In the beginning I did runs I had done before, mostly just 3 miles on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and 6 miles on Saturdays. Then once there were only 18 weeks left until the marathon, I followed this website's 18 week beginner marathon training program.
